Denise
Turner
Denise devoted herself to
raising her kids, and came to us when she felt they were ready. She really
wanted to continue being around children and give her love to them, and working
at a nurturing preschool like Gan Shalom was a perfect fit. She loves what she
is doing now at Gan Shalom, and wants to be part of the Gan Shalom family for
the long haul.
Favorite Children’s
book:
The
Three Little Pigs, it was a favorite of Benjamin’s (my youngest son) for
years.
Favorite food:
Spaghetti
Tell us a
little about your background: I grew up in
Owenton, KY. I have 2 older brother and one older sister, so I am the baby. We
grew up raising sheep, and showed Southdown sheep. My father also owned a
grocery store where I worked.
My
husband, David, and I moved to Lexington 12 years ago, in 1996. I have three
sons: Carrick is 19, Evan is 16, and Benjamin is 9. Part of our families is in
Lexington and part is in Owenton, so we often drive
there to visit.
What do you
do in your free time and for fun? Play
Basketball with the kids, and I love to swim.
How about
bungee jumping? No. Are you serious? David has
done it, but I was a nervous wreck. Would not even consider it. As for my kids,
they would have to be 18 and outside of my parental guidance before they can do
it!!!
What would you like
others to know about the kids at Gan Shalom? Gan
Shalom is nothing like a other daycare's or preschool's. The children are getting
the best they can get, and it shows. I love seeing their progress. Gan Shalom is
just such a special place.
